What is MHFA?
MHFA is an internationally accredited qualification that provides lay people with practical guidelines and protocols to assess and directly help those experiencing or developing a mental health problem or crisis. The MHFA course will be facilitated by certified MHFA instructors. There will be role-plays and group discussions for practices. Participants will receive a set of Standard MHFA course material and will be awarded a certificate upon 100% attendance.
The Online Standard MHFA Course will cover:
- Basic knowledge about common mental health problems and related crisis situations
- What you can do as a lay person and when to seek professional help
- MHFA action plan (ALGEE)
- How to provide early intervention and manage mental health problems and related crisis as a first responder
- Managing depression and suicide situations
- Managing anxiety problems and panic attacks
- Managing substance use problems
- Managing psychosis related problems
- Identify resources available in the local community
Course format:
The Online Standard MHFA Course is composed of 2 parts:
- Part A: Online self-paced E-learning for around 5-7 hours (16 June to 22 June). You are required to complete ALL modules before proceeding to Part B. You will receive your E-platform login details by 13 June, 18:00.
- Part B: Two 2.5-hour live instructor-led Zoom sessions (23 June & 24 June, 19:00-21:30). Links to the Zoom sessions will be accessible once you have completed ALL online modules on the E-platform. You are required to turn on your camera and mic throughout the Zoom sessions.
We will arrange SF delivery (HKD 30, pay upon arrival) for the set of Standard MHFA course material by 16 June. Please enter your delivery address or SF locker code correctly. You can track the order or amend delivery details by logging in the SF app or website with your mobile number.
We encourage you to take our Mental Health 101 Webinar foundational literacy course prior to taking this MHFA Course. You will receive a free entry ticket to our upcoming Mental Health 101 Webinar scheduled 16 June, 18:00-19:00, if you register for this MHFA Course. The Zoom link for this free webinar will be emailed to you 3 days prior to the course start date.
Course pricing:
- Regular Ticket: HKD 1,200
- Sponsored Ticket: HKD 900 (No invoice will be issued. Receipts will be shown on Eventbrite’s registration email.)
- Concession Ticket: HKD 750 (Applicable to full-time staff of approved IRD S88 tax-exempt charities and full-time student only. Certification:
You will be awarded an MHFA certificate upon full completion of E-learning and 100% attendance of the Zoom sessions.

- We will not accept any changes after the start of the course.
- You can apply for a refund to this registration via Eventbrite 1 week before the start of course.
- This course is open to those who are currently located in Hong Kong only.
- Participants have to be aged 18 or above.
